The sum of £20,000 will be awarded biennially for the best collection of poems, published or unpublished, by a Scottish poet aged 30 or under. If the winner is an unpublished collection, the Edwin Morgan Trust will support its publication by a Scottish small press. The runner-up will receive £2,500 and other shortlisted poets £1,000.
The winner of the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award will be expected to provide some follow-up account of the impact of its funding and publicity on his or her creative life over the two years between Awards. This will be used on the Edwin Morgan Trust and Scottish Poetry Library websites in advance of the next call for collections.
